2011 was arguably the biggest year for bass music yet, with it reaching the mainstream with an infection known to all as Dubstep. This brought attention to the other forms of low frequency dance music, and the underground thrived with glitch and bass. Many artists came out of the woodwork to present their music to much larger audiences than ever before, with some following an agressive cookie cutter pattern and others forging a new path of original expression.

Two of the most prominent and unique artists to emerge were Bird of Prey and Gibson. Having a similar aesthetic but still maintaining individual approach, they combine forces in a new symbiotic project called Birds of Paradise! Ratchet has been cranking out a unique brand of twisted psychedelic breaks on the sly, since 2006. His all original sets have been gobbled up on enthusiastic dancefloors across the country in underground clubs and festivals, where people are starting to notice his impeccable ability to craft a sharp, precise, and ultra-clean composition. In the spring of 2011, he was swooped up for "Mr. Rogers' Licking Crystals Tour" a 4 month, 40 show ride, that saw over 25 states.

Ratchet's first full length album is comin' in hot for early 2012, and will be the third release for Ooze System Recordings. Ooze System is an up and coming label from California, established by veteran producers of the underground West Coast EDM scene.

2012 will see more releases from this young audio sculptor, along with fresh releases from ReptilianBassStation, one of his many collaborative projects.

As an artist truly committed to maintaining movement and dynamism, JPOD intentionally distributed Halfsteppin across a wide variety of tempos. JPOD's rhythm skills combine with the freshness of half-time drum patterns and organic swing to create a compelling character of sound. No stranger to music production, JPOD started in 1996 with a light-hearted and experimental approach. Quickly learning DJ and turntablism skills in 2000, JPOD was initially attracted to organic and bouncy hip-hop and funk music. He entered the club scene in 2004 and was instantly recognized for his trustworthy taste in eclectic songs and precise ability to mix them. From 2005 to the present he has played every year at BC's world-famous Shambhala Music Festival, proving his dedication to staying relevant in the industry. In 2006 JPOD fully embraced producing on a serious level. The combination of being a classically trained pianist and a tech-savvy computer programmer has enabled him to excel as a self-taught producer and sound designer. 2010 saw the creation of Swing Set Sounds, JPOD's colorful label.

Although JPOD comes from musical roots of funk and hip-hop, his production skills and fusion style are pushing him well into new territories of bass, glitch, melody and texture. Halfsteppin's debut is sure to garner attention from all open ears looking to hear something clean and fresh.
