ADDICTECH.COM FEATURED RELEASE : ILL-ESHA - IMAGINARY FRIENDS : MUTI MUSIC

Always one to take her production up a notch, ill-esha’s latest, ‘Imaginary Friends’ out now on Muti Music, pushes the legendary producers epic sounds further than ever before. ill-esha once again blurs genre pigeonholes and delivers something based on moods more than fixed beat patterns, many of the tunes featuring interwoven sounds from jungle field recordings in Costa Rica.

Hailing from Vancouver, BC and now residing in Denver, CO. ill-esha burst onto the North American electronic scene originally as a drum & bass vocalist featured on various releases for the likes of Breakbeat Science, Fokuz and BluSaphir, gradually becoming known for the seamless incorporation of original vocals and MCing into DJ sets. Her multi-dimensional approach spans every color in the bass music rainbow, creating a dynamic live show which has set ill-esha apart amidst some of electronic music’s most groundbreaking acts.

With releases on trendsetting labels such as Muti Music, Daly City, Street Ritual, Subway, Haunted Audio, Dub Police and Simplify, ill-esha has topped the charts on many significant download sites. Since the release of her first 12” single in her teens, ill-esha has been honing her skills as vocalist, DJ and Producer who delivers studio efforts and live shows setting the stage for her impressive approach of live performance in electronic music. Her recent alliance with the Critical Beats project – a pioneering effort by artists to assist indigenous tribes in developing media centers for communication and culture preservation – is a resounding step forward on the path of an artist dedicated to creating social change and awareness through music.

Big up this lady of bass! Check out her new release, our favorite ill-esha release to date!

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : BASS SCIENCE : PSYCHEDELIC AMERICAN BOYHOOD : MADE IN GLITCH

Psychedelic American Boyhood is the latest Bass Science release on Made In Glitch. Bass Science is Matt B, a producer whose eclectic sound has been cultivated from a wide range of influences, from his homes in London and Japan to Los Angeles, and many places between.

This release is taking Matt B’s big love for melodic synth lines, lush stabs and epic drops, bringing it to another strength: inclusiveness. It’s fairly easy to identify the stylistic nods to dubstep, electro, R’n’B and hip-hop.

The title track is a clear example of evolving synth progressions mixed with the heaviness of what we all except from a dubstep track. So is "Be Still and Know" the second cut of this EP, rocking clunking, dirty bass breaks pinned between soaring synthesizers.

“Starglide” possibly the most chilled track in this release, combining a groovy beat with an evolving psy bassline. Matt B called in label homie High Top Kicks to perform the vocal for the next track in this release "Eating Elephants" where pop and dubstep seem to effortlessly share same territories. “Mono Sweetheart” starts in the chill out realm but eventually turns into funky breakbeats. “In My Life” is the kicker. A brisk build of synth arpeggios runs into a thunderous drum and bass drop which continues unabated. “Crazy World” sees a collaboration with London based MC Mikey Murka of the legendary Unity Sound System, and it is a heavy reggae influenced dub hop affair. "Live Forever" winks at those 80s rnb melodies, and the closing track is a refix of "Be Still And Know"

Also included in the release are remixes by artist that are not new to the Made In Glitch fanbase: SOunduo, Unlimited  Gravity, HAMM F.M., +Verb , Mesca, and Viscount

ADDICTECH RECORDS PRESENTS : OPIUO - BUTTERNUT SLAP - PART 3

Opiuo has created an individual and uniquely funky sound, heavy in bass and soaked in top shelf production techniques. His Butternut Slap series has defined the next evolution in this artists adventure of sound. Selling out tours all over the world, it is no surprise that his rise to the top is imminent. Opiuo's light is shining very bright, and due to his dedication and unique approach to the dancefloor he is establishing himself as a true artist that will make his mark in EDM history. His latest output is here, Butternut Slap Part 3!

We start the EP with Fizzle Tickler, a heavy anthemic piece of Opiuo. Laced perfectly with guitar, this hands in the air track pumps with grinding bass and a deep breakdown. Never fizzling, always tickling, this driving and chunky rocker is a great introduction to the release.

Next up is In Search of King Anchovy, immediately grabbing the listeners with a lead synth that is somehow both infectious as well as twisted. Huge drums support an incredible level of sustaining low end pressure, tight stabs and funky punches of melody glue together what could be what we consider the biggest track on the EP.

The heads will love what Gravel Rash adds to the package, with its warbly bass and warped power slump. This is the most experimental part of this release, still rocking the dancers and activating those wiggle muscles that you had forgotten about. You can really hear Opiuo's unique approach to synthesis applied with very intentional composition and sound design here.

To round out the package we have Trout Snout, a raggafied driving masterpiece. There is a suspiciously wicked symbiotic pump of the throbbing bass, the hypnotic skank, and the slick percussion that makes us wonder if Opiuo has been spending some secret time in Jamaica.

Once again, Opiuo meets and exceeds all expectations!

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : HUBWAR - WAKE THE TRUTH : I.O.T. RECORDS

Bass music is truly taking the world by storm. Addictech has a fond love for the low frequency spectrum of music, and we've got some wicked dubstep out of Marseille via our friends at I.O.T. Records!

For this second release on 333 series, IOT are very pleased to welcome HUBWAR! A multifaceted artist from Lyon. The atmosphere of the first track "Until the Truth" can evoke some of the classic films, like 2001 Space Odyssey or Blade Runner. This piece stands out as a return of the dubstep origins, a mystic and futuristic dub with minimalist melodies bolstered with the physical energy of low frequencies.

The second piece of the EP, "Wake Up" is rougher and more intoxicating. Supported by a powerful bass drum kit, this evolutionary piece pushes the divide of dubstep and techno.

ADDICTECH RECORDS 50TH RELEASE!! DIGITAL RUST - DARK HORSE EP

Addictech Records has always been about quality over quantity. Among the hundreds of demos that we constantly preview, only what we consider to be the cream of the crop is accepted. The release reaches an aptly named crescendo with “The Cycle”, a smooth flowing dub ballad that could make the busiest bee stop and think for a few minutes, with thought inspiring note patterns gliding insatiably over that trademark percussive crunch that has made this talented composer stand out.

ADDICTECH.COM FEATURED RELEASE : THE GASLAMP KILLER - BREAKTHROUGH : BRAINFEEDER

Breakthrough is the debut full-length album from the Gaslamp Killer, a manic and mystic trip through the mind of a madman. Resident DJ and co-founder of the mythic Low End Theory club night in Los Angeles, the Gaslamp Killer is known across the globe for his impeccable turntable skills and high-energy performances. He delivers the same fire to Breakthrough, a project pulled from within his soul that is his strongest musical statement yet.

Blending California-inspired psych with widespread global influences, Breakthrough is a musical anachronism, an unconstrained compilation from a wandering spirit. Finding new clarity through human connections after years on the road, the Gaslamp Killer’s evolution as an artist continues with Breakthrough. Overcast with ominous tones, loose drums and contorted sounds, Breakthrough is much more than a collection of beats; it is a musical project that reflects the culmination of almost a decade’s worth touring and performing around the world. Laying his hands on production and live drums, the Gaslamp Killer brings together a potent cast of friends to contribute to the album. Featuring guest appearances by Gonjasufi, Adrian Younge, Dimlite, Daedelus, SAMIYAM, Computer Jay and more, Breakthrough is a journey of creative connection, a tribal ceremony loaded with a sense of fellowship that reflects the Gaslamp Killer’s devotion to the collective experience.

Lacing the album with ancient dust, Gonjasufi lends his gritty voice to instantly grasping "Veins" and the easy, grainy groove of "Apparitions." Finding a frequency of high-strung horror, "Flange Face (with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson)" drops with a feeling of impending doom, a heaving monster with cinematic strings and meteors falling from the stars.

"Impulse (with Daedelus)" immediately descends into madness, spinning out of control amidst wicked sound contraptions and a blurry, bass-driven melody. Named after the Gaslamp Killer’s grandfather, "Nissim (with Amir Yaghmai)" travels through a host of emotions, evolving from the solemn strums of a yiali tambur into a sunny tune that instantly transports you to Istanbul.

"Seven Years of Bad Luck for Fun (with Dimlite)" slices the spine down the middle with chills, a cold-blooded tremor that congeals as it crawls through the shadows. Grabbing your breath through your guts and flinging off into the ether, "In the Dark" is an encompassing track whose twisted strings and heavy horns overtake the album’s denouement with a shuddering glimpse of the end of the world.

To his ever-expanding fanbase, the Gaslamp Killer is much more than a DJ or producer; he is a master crafter of the collective experience, a shaman of spiritual escape found by following the beats. The journey continues; turning 30 this year, the Gaslamp Killer has only scratched the surface of himself as an artist and a person. Resonating on a deeper level, Breakthrough is the Gaslamp Killer’s spirit shining through the haze, breaking through the foggy veil of singularity to find the human connection.

“I learned everything from my friends.” The Gaslamp Killer

"Austero" is Melbourne based, Mexican raised, musically crazed, Albino Sosa. Being one half of collaborative project known as SunMonx (with Opiuo), Austero morphs his characteristic live guitars in a high end hybrid downtempo electronica solo project. With this initial release he embarks himself onto a new experience in which he puts together guitars, pianos, vocals, dubby vibes, soulful melodies, glitch and dubstep. His melodies and riffs ignite a musical fire that socially and politically tells a story of his years around this earth, his vision and hope.

ADDICTECH.COM FEATURED RELEASE : FREQ NASTY AND MARTY PARTY - BEETHOVENS FILTH : FREQ NASTY RECORDINGS

Freq Nasty and Marty Party are household names in the bass music arena, and they have collaborated on a dirty little release!

‘Beethoven’s Filth’ was started by MartyParty and FreQ Nasty in the back of the Monsters of Bass tour bus as it crossed the US. But it wasn’t until they got back to Marty’s Brooklyn studio that the filth started to fly. It’s a tasty combo of sweet strings and melody with salty electronics and a drop that will have Beethoven turning... or maybe raving... in his grave.

Hot Delux smoothly fuses an opulent classical motif with the electronic hip hop sound that is ripping thru the underground right now. Luxurious violins, cello, oboe, and tuba float over a weighty bottom end while skittish 808 snares delicately tickle the high end, giving the track a seductive mechanical drum funk.

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : TIPPER - SHATTERBOX EP : TIPPERMUSIC

Well then, what do we have here? Yet another bar-raising dancefloor release from Dave Tipper! The man is a machine of individual electronic exploration, constantly splattering minds while controlling the bodies of the revelers on the other side of the speakers through banging rhythms, intricate layering, bass waves you could surf on, and easily some of the cleanest and most inspiring production quality control ever. He delivers these transmissions the entire time with a humble demeanor, as you will never see him hyping up the crowd with headbanging tomahawking antics, you wont hear him on the microphone announcing the next big drop, he can simply let the quality of his music do the talking.

With the Shatterbox EP, Dave again flexes his diversity by surprising us with the title track by kicking up the tempo to Drum and Bass! Something we personally have always wanted to hear from him, and when witnessed in person is obviously an energy that not only we appreciate. Inside the EP we also have Higgins, a journey with a slightly mystical introduction, that quickly moves into a raging pulse of the Tipper vibration. We've also got Spunion, which is what might be the closest thing you will hear to a vocal representation of a cyborg alien laughing in joy, reveling in the bass. Last but certainly not least is On the Natch, a super funktastic horn filled electrorganic hybrid.

Dave always brings the noise!

ADDICTECH RECORDS PRESENTS : SI BEGG - TOTAL CONTROL EP

In a world of copycat producers riding each new wave of audio trends, there are very few producers that have stood the test of time. Si Begg is no flash in the pan, he is one of the original purveyors of bass and glitch, while also maintaining his foundation in many other genres of electronic music.

His newest EP "Total Control" is another welcomed addition to his catalog, and Addictech Records is ecstatic to represent Si in his many musical endeavors. Si was one of the original producers to inspire Addictech to do what we do!

The title track Total Control is a pure electrobreakbeat rolling stomper, with a gnarly bassline and meticulously placed edits. Next up is the Basswork Mix, which leans more toward banging percussion and slightly more aggressive frequencies for those that like it a little more dirty, setting off the rave alarm. Following the Basswork Mix is the Collapsing Mix, this one taking the formula and rinsing it through the abstract filter, while freaking the frequencies and flipping another rolling yet steppy glitch beat. And finally to round out the package we have the track 10 Regals and a Pint of Mild, a collaboration of psychedelic rock vibes awash in analog distortion - having us ask the question, does Si have a secret rock band hidden away in his studio?

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : MR. BILL - REFOCUSED VOLUME ONE : ADAPTED RECORDS

Adapted drops another exclusive to the Addictech Lab, and its a wicked compilation of remixes! “Re-Focused - Part 1” is a finely plucked combination of remixes from artists who truly know how to compliment the twisted intricacy of Mr. Bill.

The release kicks off with a warped and funkadelic remix of “Router” by Circuit Bent, presenting a strange beauty over a solid beat, with abstract sample manipulation and a smooth analogue sounding bass line. Synaecide then re-routes the same tune in many different directions, steering the soundscape seamlessly from an ambient introduction through to a demanding dubstep sector into beastly breaks territory, and finishing with a funky flat four criscendo, with orchestral harmonies sneaking their way through the tune. Next in line is Blatwax's sinister take on “Tubes”, an enticing accumulation of breaks and tech styles with rhythmic and spacial arpegios gliding through the track, driving forward with delicate precision. Whitebear then proceeds to break ground with his remix of “Shatter”, delivering an atmospheric crunch of sounds that deeply infiltrates every sense and instigates naturally flowing bodily movements. Kalya Scintilla glows with his interpretation of “Blush”, a bouncy adventure of depth and inspiration, an insatiable composition of spacial bass and pounding percussion. The EP then concludes with Mindbuffer's epic remake of “Balance”, a captivating journey of pristine audio manipulation, omitting vibrations of both wonder and intense brutality, in a concise combination of dubstep, breaks and jungle, resulting in a realisation of the sheer wizardry of this duo.

“Re-Focused – Part 1” exhibits some of the most admired masterminds of sound production in the country, who all share with Mr. Bill the traits of penetrating basslines and extremely innovative abilities in sound design.

Australian label Adapted Records is back with another Addictech.com Exclusive! Step into a warped dimension of stealth and intricacy and embrace the mystique of Barry Koota's debut EP, “Perception Deception”.

The title track kicks things off with with a smooth and subtle stomp that seems to put the listener into the shoes of a ninja in the Sahara desert, sneakily moving along and progressing with groove and precision, combining a solid bassline with Eastern melodies.

“The Yurn to Gurn” is as cheeky as the title suggests, and it takes a lot of energy not to smile whilst consuming its musical goodness. The tightness of the drums along side a defiant melody line is merged with finely plucked sample cuts that deliver the works. "Hook Shot" brings the EP to an energetic climax. The impeccably roaring bass sounds are complimented by ground shattering drops and weaved together with the distorted retro vibe of the track.
