Step into a warped dimension of stealth and intricacy and embrace the
mystique of Barry Koota's debut EP, “Perception Deception”.
The title track kicks things off with with a smooth and subtle stomp that seems to put the listener into the shoes of a ninja in the Sahara desert, sneakily moving along and progressing with groove and precision, combining a solid bassline with Eastern melodies.
“The Yurn to Gurn” is as cheeky as the title suggests, and it takes a lot of energy not to smile whilst consuming its musical goodness. The tightness of the drums along side a defiant melody line is merged with finely plucked sample cuts that deliver the works. "Hook Shot" brings the EP to an energetic climax. The impeccably roaring bass sounds are complimented by ground shattering drops and weaved together with the distorted retro vibe of the track.
Perception Deception is an EP that evolves track to track, and it's clearly a very good introduction to one of Australia's most promising glitch hop talents.
