ADDICTECH RECORDS PRESENTS : OPIUO - BUTTERNUT SLAP - PART 2

Fresh off headlining a sold out international tour, Opiuo is back with Part 2 of the chart topping Butternut Slap series! Cementing his hold in the forefront of dancefloor electronics, he evolves his sound further and lands the soul slap funkship directly in the center of the target of your inner raver’s third eye. We don’t know where this music comes from, or how Opiuo manages to continue to evolve and surprise, but he is clearly setting the bar for many to aspire to.

From the opening percussion of Wiggle Sticks, Opiuo quickly jumps into the funk. Tight synth stabs accentuate the rolling beats and detailed bass.  Live horns enter into the fold reminding us that even in the sound of future music, human soul and intonation spread that special sauce on this delicious serving of gourmet audio.

Next up is Ripple, a dreamy and lucid intro prepare us for the pumping beats and swinging fat bassline. As your neck avoids whiplash and your hips uncontrollably swing to the rhythms, the Opiuo spell entrances you through a ecstatic breakdown, then dropping you flat on your face returning to the beat, injected with additional adrenaline.

Don’t Hold Back follows up next, riding on the resonance of Ripple. This is an epic vocal tune that will turn the head of any lyrical haters. Come prepared to be possessed by the music, as this lurching bass monster contains the syrupy and soulful vocals of Syreneiscreamy as well as the influence of Russ Liquid.

The final track is Butternut Slap, and from the onset the euphoric pads and incredibly thick bass embrace the Addictech ethos of “Music is the Drug”. Opiuo’s music constantly defies genre classification, maintaining certain critical elements of top shelf production standards, inventive songwriting, and unheard of originality!

ADDICTECH.COM FEATURED RELEASE : ECHO WANDERER - MOVING THROUGH DUB : FULL MELT

Full Melt is one of the OG dubstep labels out of San Francisco, and we are consistantly impressed with their diverse output.
Hailing from Southern California, Echo Wanderer creates a brand of dub music that transcends beyond the realm of tradition. Having had a background of Punk, Ska, Industrial and EBM, Shoegaze and Noise, this artist comes from influences outside of your standard cookie cutter midrange wobble.

These influences shine through to form a sound that is all at once emotional, dark, pensive, experimental, and sub heavy, while keeping a dub reggae backbone. His dub is extremely visual and is designed to be hypnotic, with layer upon layer of counterpoint that, upon each listen, new elements are discovered. The Echo Wanderer project started about 7 years ago working with various electronic styles under different names ranging from left-field Dub and DnB, to glitchy IDM and psychedelic Trip Hop.

In 2010, he released the digital single "Sound System Miracle/Eruption Dub" on RogueDubs, shortly followed by the release of the Persian classical influenced "Gham Dub" on the "Dubstep Meditations" compilation on Full Melt Recordings.

If you like your dubstep deep and trippy, this one is for you!

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : SHARPS - THE SPHINX : MUTI MUSIC

Sharps’ work, “The Sphinx” is his latest in Latin infused bass music, a sound that combines big subs with surgical edits and a tropical heartbeat. “The Sphinx” EP began life as a series of vocal bootlegs created for his DJ sets. For the release of the EP, he decided to do something different.

“I wanted to create music that was purely instrumental, that didn’t rely on the human voice. So I worked the tracks, searching for ways to replace these vocal lines with synthetic textures. In the end I found that by making the synths behave like the human voice, it kept the energy, but moved the music into a more abstract realm.”

Sharps’ tropical bass sound began in 2004, during a trip to London UK when he encountered dubstep and reggaeton for the first time. Realizing that both these sounds needed to find a place in the clubs and festivals at home, he merged them with breaks and glitch-hop, producing his early experiment “el Boss”, and other tunes. Years later, while DJing at Burningman in the company of Puerto Ricans and open-minded revelers, he found that the steady Dem-bow beat, combined with the big bass moved the crowd like nothing else. The experience catalyzed his “Tropical Bass” EP, and now, with the sound further refined and proven on the dance floor, he presents his latest work “The Sphinx”

Here's what people are saying about Powell Beats:

"Parisian tunesmith Powell certainly leans heavily towards the art of sound design, but thankfully has a toe or two dipped into the pond of catchy hooks. His brand of funky, electro-tinged bass music is rife with rubbery synth tones, swarms of neon space noise, and gut-punching beats" - XLR8R

"This musician formed his unique style, characterized by an abundance of unstructured percussive sounds, low-frequency explosions and laser synthetic trills in all kinds of electro, glitch, wonky and bass incarnations." - Alpha Pup

ADDICTECH.COM FEATURED RELEASE : NYMFO - CHARACTERS : COMMERCIAL SUICIDE

Born of the legendary dutch d&b crew Red Zone, Nymfo spent his earlier years producing and playing with the likes of Martyn & Icicle winning best Dutch d&b DJ in the process. Following such early success Nymfo has gone on to produce many releases for labels such as Ram, Metalheadz, 31, Dispatch, Critical, Samurai and of course an alliance was forged with Commercial Suicide which included the excellent Double Dutch EP from last year.

Commercial Suicide's latest release is Nymfo’s debut full length album Characters. 13 tracks in total it shines a spotlight on the talents of the dutch boy wonder as it spans many different tempos and emotions. There are collaborations with Black Sun Empire, Cern, June Miller & Presk, an amazing vocal contribution from MC Fava and a sick sick down tempo reworking of Nymfo’s classic Matchstick now called ‘Stickmatch’.

Spanning multiple genres and vibes, the latest from Commercial Suicide is sure to please!

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : THE DIGITAL CONNECTION - THE CENTER OF GRAVITY : GRAVITAS RECORDINGS

Fresh from the ever growing electronic hotbed of Colorado comes "The Center of Gravity" on Gravitas Recordings, the debut EP from bass heavy producer The Digital Connection. Blurring genre lines right out of the gate, this six track EP embraces considerable influence from dubstep and glitch hop while still maintaining a hybrid sound. Crisp and textured sound contrasts the stirring melodic progressions throughout each track's arrangement, keeping the listener engaged and eagerly anticipating what could be next.

Spawned from dreams of broken toy sounds, "Unusual Entities" starts the release off with a healthy dose of midtempo bounce. The funky title track shares a similarly upbeat rhythm, blending relaxed chords into bubbling bass noises as the song progresses. Both "An Imbalance" and "On A Brighter Note" focus on rolling 808s and pitch-bent synth work into the 140bpm environment.

"Unusual Entities" gets a heavy re-glitch from Gravitas' own Cryptex, taking a slightly more aggressive approach without losing structural integrity. Headtron's emissary Goldrush brings up the rear with a seductive take of "On a Brighter Note", focusing more on the lush intricacies of the original while keeping the bassline more restrained and tasteful.

ADDICTECH.COM EXCLUSIVE : CADIK - RELAX REMIXES : CHI RECORDINGS

Chi Recordings is back for a fresh exclusive, and establishes their place with a variety of bass music from Cadik! This four piece remix single is the forerunner of a series that intends to cover the complete Cadik catalogue on Chi Recordings.

'Relax' is taken from the album 'Travel Agency' that delivers a classic electronic hip-hop approach. The original track loosens up pure and banging beats, operating with playful melodies and warm analog sounds instead. All elements in fine balance with the rough voice of the wicked Dynamite MC.

Modul's remix turns up the heat of the hip-hop angles, tops it up with scratch and 8-bit layers, while showing off sleek glitch technique. The genre bender Dizko Stu remix steps up to a funky new level, with classy organ riffs, chased by freestyle bass rolls, leaving a slight taste of acid on the tongue. Closing it out proper is DJ Madd, taking us to a pleasingly static, somewhat creepy atmosphere in a dubstep fashion.

A great package from our favorite Hungarian label! Check it out!
