Activate ya Foot Chackra and let that booty loose! Truck Records and Whomp Truck mastermind Just Ben have some cosmic glitchy grooves for your bassbins!

http://www.addictech.com/p/174134

Just Ben delivers five tripped out heaters with the Foot Chakra EP. The Denver veteran's latest release is filled with psychedelic textures and playful melodies that range from dance floor fillers to brain dance musings - all the lively musical child of one Ben Travis, coupled with his trademark humor as illustrated by title of this EP.

Now, what is the Foot Chakra? Some say it is just a plastic severed foot that Ben formed a mildly disturbing but healthy relationship with. Others believe it is none other than the second coming. All we know is the physical and musical Foot Chakras are oddly grounding.

The cerebral artwork of Matik Design that adorns the cover of Pandora blends the natural and the synthetic, making a perfect representation for the latest EP from Australia's glitch-hop figure Goosebumpz.

The Pandora EP opens with a textbook example of glitch-hop. "Brace Position" has a driving metropolitan lead, mid-tempo beat made from live drum sounds, sci-fi atmospherics, and a few choice hip-hop vocals with a DMX growl. One half-expects that if glitch hop were added to the Webster's dictionary, it would come with a link to this track.

"Lycra Chakra" has a breezy summer vibe with an uplifting beat, super funky horns, and a taste of effervescent guitar stylings deeper in the texture, punctuated by just enough vocal hype. "Squid Brand" features the most present electric guitar work, with hints of blues in its brass, guitar, and a downtrodden beat.

Closing the EP is the title track, probably the most smartly subtle track of them all. "Pandora" hits the sweet spot with Latin-tinged acoustic guitar, using cheeky gating to glitch up the synth lead in a similar fashion to its drum programming. With stuff like this in his arsenal, it's no wonder the young man from Down Under has gone on to play major events such as Rainbow Serpent, Burning Man, Shambhala, and Astral Harvest. Check out this latest release as an example of the excitement behind this bourgeoning Australian producer!

Algernon Renton is one of those guys who could do just about anything if they put their mind to it. As it happens, Renton has been a high roller in the Australian psy-trance scene since he started producing, releasing a whole catalogue of material under the name Positive Thought. Since about 2010, he's been making waves in the glitch-hop scene as Mustard Tiger, as well as crushing minds with his additional collaboration project Staunch. Following a string of well-received EPs and singles, "Textures" is the first Mustard Tiger full-length.

Given his years of studio experience, it comes as no surprise that the Mustard Tiger debut album is so fully realized. The production is perfectly balanced. It's dynamic but smooth, psychedelic but grounded. There are clearly humorous moments, like the potato chip crunch on "Kaiser Sosage" or the "hang up and try your call again" telephone operator sample on "Richter," matched by the absurd fun of his ever-evolving wonky-squonk glitch-hop instrumentals, but despite all the sophisticated processing of which he shows himself capable, he never loses the plot and gives into sheer lunacy.

Although main stage block rocking beats abound, each one easily extractable as singles, Textures is clearly an artistic endeavor in the concept of the album as form. The album retains an omnipresent tasteful quality while Renton's bends the sounds of funky guitar, saxophone, and electric piano, jazzy upright bass and flute, and soulful vocal samples to his will, while the track selection is mindful to create a logical aural narrative from start to finish.

The title of 5-minute long opening track "Intro" removes all doubt as to its album-based intention, setting the stage with its punchy bass guitar, Motown vocal cues, and offbeat piano and sax stabs. "Code Blue" brings the album to a logical conclusion, a seriously minded downtempo glitch track marked by emotional electric piano, sorrowful guitar, and bluesy vocal samples. In between, "Kaiser Sosage" presents the album's most dramatic moment, with impertinent slap bass, reversing sax lines, freewheeling electric piano flourishes, and a bubbling bass, while the title track "Textures" fulfills its promise with slick bass guitar, raunchy synth bass, manicured drums, and get-up vocal edits, with atmospheric effects filling in the gaps.

It's far too easy to put Textures on, and let it ride for the whole 50 minutes. Though the sound palette remains consistent throughout, the arrangements are ever-evolving, presenting them in new and exciting ways that Mustard Tiger sure knows how to funk it up.

The new griff release is here!

Buy/Download Here -> add.tc/P157442

You gotta love Griff. The Melbourne resident is a pinball enthusiast, table tennis champion, and coffee addict. He's a complete legend that you'd want camping with you at a festival, and that's not even considering his mind-melting music!

Griff studied audio engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and, subsequently, landed a job at Sing Sing Studios. Combined with countless hours of experience tinkering with an MPC2000 and finicky grooveboxes, his compositions bridge the gap between acoustic and electronic with the effortlessness of a great jazz improviser. His production domain is one of uplifting synth melodies, warm dub bass, gentle guitars, and dynamic, organic drums. His open-minded live sets have dropped everything from soulful drum and bass to quirky downtempo at such festivals as Burning Man, Shambhala, Rainbow Serpent, Eclipse 2012, and Symbiosis Gathering.

Following three well-received EPs on Adapted, and a chill collaboration with his brother Bryn under the name Dersu Uzala, Griff makes his solo full-length debut on Addictech with 'Interstate.' It's a mature yet playful statement from the young producer, hammered home by the vocal sample in "Time Further In", where Dave Brubeck briefly discusses the original role of jazz, leading the public to more adventurous rhythms.

Benjamin Tolmie's colorful geometric cover art perfectly suits the album's kaleidoscopic sound. When elements like the freestyling trumpet and organ stabs in "Theme from Hexagon" or the chimes and saxophone on "Dead Heroes" arise, they blend seamlessly into sophisticated textures. "Kilgore" is the best example of this, a sparse, jazzy downtempo interlude marked by fresh drums, casual melodic progression, electric piano, and what sounds like a kalimba and melodica, which lend it a worldly feel.

Griff's guitar work is one of the most striking elements of this album. He does for the guitar something similar to what Raja Ram of Shpongle did for the flute, expanding the possibilities of the organic instrument in the context of electronic music, without forcing the issue. The acoustic guitar reversing and flowing in the background of "Like the Sixties Never Happened" underpins it’s melody, supporting but never distracting, while the guitar sound on "Dental Blues" whisks the listener away to a desert plain. Both "Asteroid" and "Quartet" have a little bit of Spoonbill womp, but the latter is given emotional weight by a shallow piano and guitar twang. In moments like these, his guitar becomes a transcendental vehicle.

While much of 'Interstate' will work as party tracks, the cerebral nature of the album's collective effort deeply rewards the focused home listening or proper chill stage experience. It feels sacred. There are always new layers to discover; yet it is perfect for relaxing and contemplating the cyclical nature of time. Oh, yes. You'll want to hang out with Griff a lot this summer.

Public Service Announcement :: This shouldn't ever have to be said, but apparently it does. If you are a DJ that is lucky enough to have unreleased tracks given to you for your DJ sets by fellow producers, you should NEVER release a mix that includes those tracks without DIRECT PERMISSION from the artist and/or label. It doesn't matter who you think you are, how long you've been DJing, etc etc. Always ask first. Easy.

Happy New Year everyone! \u003C3 Your support throughout the years has been absolutely essential for our survival. 2013 was an truly a horrific year for the majority of people involved with music distribution, sales were epically low across the board in the industry. To say that 2013 was our most challenging year since we started would be an understatement. We want to be transparent with you all, and let you know that if you want to see the artists and music you love survive, we all need your assistance. We are a small company fighting against large corporations that don't give a fuck about quality music. Let's bring the noise in 2014, we promise to you we will do our best to keep delivering only the purest uncut electronic music. ! :)
